The Department of Animal Science is acknowledged nationally and internationally for its excellent research, teaching, and extension programs in domestic animal production and biology. Our faculty members have received national recognition for the quality of their classroom instruction and attention to student needs and concerns. Our research mission is to seek new knowledge about the biology, production and care of domestic animals. We conduct leading-edge research in the areas of animal production systems, meat quality and safety, molecular, cellular, developmental and growth biology, physiology and cell signaling, animal by-products and waste management.
