Short Description
The Department of Agricultural Extension Education is one of the largest Departments of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) under the Faculty of Agriculture while offering courses & covering all faculties at undergraduate levels. The Departmen was established in October 9, 1964. The department teach the application of scientific research and new knowledge to agricultural field through farmers’’ education. This discipline now encompasses a wider range of communication and learning activities organized for farmers in the field of crop, livestock and fisheries. Extension practitioners can be found throughout the world usually working for government agencies.
Department of Agricultural Extension Education department not only provides the teaching facilities but also conducting the research activities both at undergraduate level as well as postgraduate levels. In addition, there are various research activities (need and demand driven) have been conducting through different research projects. The major areas of research are food security and safety, communication, technology transfer, leadership, climate change, environment, disaster management, entrepreneurship development, farm management etc. The department has high profile 20 (Twenty) faculty members having research and teaching experiences of which 8 (eight) Professor, 2 (two) Associate Professors, 8 (eight) Assistant Professor and 2 (two) Lecturers. The department has a unique program named “Extension Field Trip” at a Upazila for a week long that has been organizing since 1976. While undergraduate students of all faculties (except faculty of Agricultural Economic and Rural Sociology) have been participating as compulsory event. This event provides the opportunities to students to understand how upazila administration and upazila parishad have been working for rural development. In addition, a certificate is given to the students those are successfully participated.
